SUMMARY:Tigers in the Wild: A Photographic Journey
DESCRIPTION:Tigers in the Wild: A Photographic Journey with Neelakantan Sunder\nJoin us at the library on Saturday\, Nov. 9 at 11am for a presentation by local Newfields resident and photographer Neelakantan Sunder. \nSunder has made several trips into the National Parks/Tiger Reserves of India in search of this elusive and majestic animal. There are only about 2\,500 tigers left in the world\, most of them in India. It is common to see tigers in fairy tales\, mythological stories\, in religious icons\, in the flags of the ancient kingdoms and in many folk tales in India. Most people never have an opportunity to see tigers in the wild\, even after many trips to the wilderness. \nSunder will share about tigers and their natural habitat through his wildlife photography\, including ongoing threats from habitat loss and human interactions. Understanding and appreciating the tiger’s natural life is an essential aspect of the task of preservation of the tigers. \nThis presentation is about both the photographic challenge of capturing tiger images and also about the various wild life in the jungle that makes the wilderness what it is. All the photographs are from Corbett National Park and Bandhavgargh National Forest.
